"Fish on!" and "crabby patties"
10/23/2007
Here are some pics of my recent salmon fishing day that turned into a crab fest. We had plans of getting up at the (butt)crack of dawn and get in the Siletz river by 6:30AM. We then threw out some crab crates (4 of them) and went up and down the river …. We came in for the crates 5 times and caught between the three of us 29 keepers. We were hoping to catch our limit but we short by 7.
I took my newly hunted bounty of crab home and Mer and I started a movie together, then we “shelled” the crab that was ours to grab the meat out. When the movie was done, we also happened to be done with the meat. We had a large bowl FILLED with crab meet. I normally don’t like fish stuff, but if it is fresh, it tends to taste good …. and this stuff tasted gooo-oood.
These are some sorry pictures of me on the boat. The other guys kept making fun of my “lucky” hat. Though secretly the night before (having been very tired) I had been hopin that the trip would be canceled. But am glad I went. I had a great time and the guy that took us totally has the gift of hospitality and made it a very enjoyable experience.

My buddy that took me has his own boat with the crab stuff on it (and some poles for fishin’) … but really, if you go to any bay area, they usually have someone that will rent out rings .. and for bait, we just used some chicken parts (legs, thighs, breasts) and this was even on sale, so for 10.00 we got like 300.00 worth of crab. good ROI
