OK, so I have now been riding the bus for about two months now.
At first I was just testing it out, ya know seeing if all of the “rumors” were true.
I have to say at first, it was definitely awkward. But I couldn’t quite tell why. I do know that by nature, I am shy (at least at first), I like to check things out and see what’s what and who’s who. I got over this by just reading a book (I have finished two now) or listen to my ipod. A few times I did like to pretend to read and just observe interactions of other people. Like the guy in his late twenties/early thirties who talked really loud on his cell phone about how cool he was and how he like to party, but he had to back him to “moms house” to clean his room. Or the dynamic scooter girls who tried hard to get on the bus by backing in. They were quite adapt at maneuvering actually. Last week there was two girls who were those “oh my gosh” (omg) girls. I say that, because that was their mantra spoken after every third word. They already annoyed me quite well and we hadn’t even been away from the bus depot but even four minutes and 38 seconds (not that I was counting).
omg#1 “omg i want to so omg like get off the bus.”
omg#2 “omg yeah like so when is the next stop omg did we pass it already?”
omg#1 “whatever, no we are still downtown, omg they don’t like have bus stops down here .. duh (omg)”
omg#2 “omg, like what is that right there-uh”
omg#1 “omg! she then reaches for the chord to signify a stop”
omg#2 “ya know what, omg I can’t believe this, i want to wait till later”
omg#1 “omg! like busdriver, we are sorry, omg we are going to get off later!”
well later they were trying to get off, but omg#2 didn’t have enough money, so she kept checking her pants that had more holes than swiss cheese in them. She eventually realized that she didn’t have any more cash on them and then turned around and said “omg does anyone like have a dollar?” When no one responded they both said in unison “omg, whatever” and both sat down. As of yet, I don’t really know what happens to people who can’t pay their fare. I assume they have to stay on the bus and go back to town where they get fingerprinted, photographed, stripped searched and locked into the middle of a school bus somewhere.
I do have to say that it is nice to be able to save money as my company pays for the bus pass. $20.00 for gas has lasted me these last two months. On average I take the car in once a week now. I do get to enjoy relaxing on the way home after stressful days at work. But on those days when I am so tired already .. those final two blocks home seem to take forever. I also don’t like the tight schedule for getting home … if I miss the first bus at 6:15 … I have to wait 30 minutes to get the next bus, and if I miss that … it’s one more hour. Coming in to work is fairly simple, a bus goes by about every 15 minutes.
All in all, it’s a good experience. For now I will continue to ride the bus (more so since my Reverse went out on the car). I will have to get an umbrella as the rain appears.
Am I doing this to go green and save a planet. No, I do it to simply save money.

Chad and I went to Seattle a while back … we got the privilege to see these guys live. Style ain’t mine … but they were impacting. They had another song that was SPOT ON with theology and truth!

What is it about sin that with one hand can be so attractive and on the other hand be so deadly? Conversely, what is it about God that seems so unattracitve that we do not trust or follow and yet so life saving/giving if we let Him in.
